Class Line-up
- NIA
- Nia is a holistic fitness program and path that will lead you to vitality, fitness, self-confidence, and happiness. Nia combines the explosive power of martial arts, the dynamic poses of yoga, the stillness and concentration of Tai Chi, and the grace and spontaneity of modern and ethnic dance. Nia is a joyful way to stay fit. You can think of Nia as cross-training through movement. It's aerobic, but you won't wear your body out because you move it in so many different ways. And Nia mirrors functional movement patterns that occur in daily life. For example, when you pick up groceries and put them away or put the baby on your hip, you twist. Nia is a delightful way to connect to your body, your heart, and your spirit. Movements are created from dancing freely to music, so every step is in harmony with the rhythm and the mechanics of the body. The choreography is simple and repetitive on purpose. By repeating movements over and over, the body relaxes and has a chance to pay attention to details, such as the position of the feet, hands, or head in a movement sequence. Students improve their body intelligence by taking Nia. They learn how their body works so they can bring it into harmony. With this knowledge, students develop balance, strength and flexibility and learn how they can change their bodies.
- YOGA
- At Winds of Change Studio, the yoga posture (asana) practice is a vinyasa flow in which physical alignment supports a deeper connection to the natural radiance of the heart.
With vinyasa flow yoga you will unearth your inner brilliance as you build strength and flexibility. Attention is given to physical alignment in yoga positions, which are modified for each student’s individual needs and abilities. The experience is meditation in motion, linking aligned yoga postures (asanas) with breath. The fruition is a healthier state of being through mindful movement and relaxation.
Classes incorporate seated and standing poses, forward and backward bending, inversions, spinal twists and sun salutations with variations. Meditation and pranayama techniques are also woven into each class.
- Flow 1
- If you’re new to yoga or looking for more alignment instruction, the Flow 1 level is for you. This class is also appropriate for those students looking for a gentler practice.
- Flow 2
- If you want to flow with less emphasis on alignment, check out a Flow 2 class. These multi-level classes provide some foundation basics along with variations on the yoga poses to satisfy the beginner and challenge even the most advanced student.
- Flow 3
- A vigorous class that focuses on flowing and holding poses to provide a sweaty experience. Expect to be challenged physically, mentally and spiritually. This class is not for the brand new beginner.
- Vinyasa
Vinyasa is often referred to as “flow yoga.” In vinyasa classes yoga postures are linked together in sequence and synchronized with the breath. At Inspiral Motion, our yoga flows are inspired by various traditions of Hatha yoga. Our yoga teachers study more than one yoga discipline, aiming to create a unique approach to integrating the different lineages. We aspire to blend the various backgrounds of vinyasa yoga to create our own eclectic and integrative experience.
Yogic history, philosophies, pranayama (breathing) techniques, aromatherapy, meditation, chakra systems, and ayurveda may be explored in addition to asana (postures). All levels are available. Come with an open mind and leave with a full heart.
